Addressing an envelope is a very easy task but it has to be very precise in its details for the letter to reach the corresponding person. A letter should always have an address on the envelope. An envelope is an outer covering used for to cover letters or the corresponding item. Envelopes are very much in use but they have decreased due to the invention of various other means of communication other than letters. But they are still used to send packages etc. There are a few general basic rules to be followed while addressing an envelope. The name of the person to whom the letter should be reached should be mentioned. Right postage should be used otherwise our letter would be rejected. The right address with complete details such as postal code or zip code, country name, street and door number should be mentioned. The contents and format may vary from country to country. Certain countries are particular in the format they need to receive their mail as that particular method will match their mailing order system. One such country is England.

Addressing an envelope to England is very much the same as to other countries. It requires all the basic details such as name, zip code, door number etc. the royal mail of England was started in the 16th century. Addressing an envelope to England is described in the following steps.

1. It should be started with the name of the person on the left hand side. It doesn’t need ‘To’ on top of it. Beneath it is the company name if required. Not needed in case of a personal letter.

   

2. The next line should contain the building name or the street name along with building name. The street number comes on the next line.

   

3. The next line should contain the name of the locality like for example ‘Heddle End’.

4. The name of the town or the city should be mentioned in the next line. In capital letters. According to the English postal order the postal code should be on the final line.

5. The name of the country should be mentioned on the line like ‘England’ or it need not be mentioned if the other requirements are disclosed perfectly.

The royal mailing system of England follows this method and these are all the requirements needed for the mailing system to approve the letter.
